Northern Arizona has long adored the lumberjack as its school mascot, and it became official in 1964. In 1968, the school introduced its first official NAU Lumberjacks logo (shown here!), which was used until 1987. Eventually, it was nicknamed “Louie,” after the famous pop song “Louie, Louie.”
