George “Tirebiter” is an iconic USC mascot, famous for chasing cars on campus since 1940. He endeared himself to fans by chasing Cal's Oski, biting UCLA's Joe Bruin, and leading the marching band onto the field. In 1947, he became the official mascot, succeeded by George II and George III, until being replaced by Traveler. In 2006, a statue was unveiled in his honor.
