In 1975, Coach Vince Gibson took charge of the Cardinals football program and infused it with a burst of energy. He created the iconic term “Red Rage,” which was prominently used in marketing, on fan gear, and even on the team's football helmets during his five seasons in Louisville, including back-to-back 7-win seasons in 1977 and 1978.
