Get ready to relive the glory of 1967 with this amazing basketball tee! Led by future NBA stars Walt Frazier and Dick Garrett, the 1967 Southern Illinois Salukis were a force to be reckoned with. They were one of the elite teams in the NCAA College Division (now Division II), despite being ineligible for the Division I tournament. After a remarkable 20 - 2 regular season that earned them a #1 ranking, they made a bold decision. They turned down the invitation to play in the small school College Division tournament to compete in the more prestigious National Invitation Tournament (NIT) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. And what a decision it was! Frazier and the underdogs from SIU dominated, running through St. Peter's, Duke, Rutgers, and Marquette to win the NIT title and prove they could take on anyone in the country.
