The Ol' Sarge character, born from a monthly cartoon by Pete Tumlinson for the Battalion Humor Magazine during his A&M student days, was named Magarkin. A strong-jawed sergeant in comedic situations reflecting Cadet Corps experiences. He entertained students in the magazine comic strip from the 40s to the early 60s when A&M was an all-male military school. Partnered with College Vault.
