Fairfield's very first athletic team, the Men's Cross Country, proudly took on the name 'Men in Red' back in 1947. Just one year later, Fairfield expanded with a basketball program, and the students proposed two exciting mascot options: the Chanticleers or the Stags. The Board of Trustees chose the Stags, and that's how this amazing tradition began. Long live the Stags!
