In 1965, IU's student senate chose a bison as the Hoosier mascot, inspired by the bison on the state seal. But the live bison was too costly, so they went for a costume instead. Unfortunately, it was uncomfortable, hard to see through, and cheerleaders had to lead it around with a rope. This snapback hat is much better.
